Clay Mask Project
My mask was meant to reflect ancient North African culture where they worshipped cats as sacred and god-like, thus reflecting the reason for my piece. It's design was based off of the masks that some of the Pharoahs and higher-ups in society used.
My experiences with clay have never been great, but I feel like this piece was better than most I've created before. I love the luster and the color of the glaze I used, however some of it bled into each other which gave it a weird look. I also ran into the problem of the different shaped eyes. I didn't realize they weren't identical until it was too late to fix them. I tried but they never seemed to end up identical. Overall, however, I feel like this is one of my better pieces of art during this year and I feel that I am improving on my clay sculpting.
