I Create Original Art
During the clay tile project we were told to create a tile based on a biome and then paint the tile. I did my project on a beetle in a jungle biome. My project turned out better than I thought it was going to be. Although I had a reference it was only for the structure of a beetle. The biome around it was something I created. I put the log facing diagonally in the middle and hollowed it out. I stuffed newspaper in it to make it keep its form which really helped. The overlapping leaves were a good idea in my eyes because it gave the clay piece a 3-D aspect to it.
I Develop My Art Making Skills
I had used clay before prior to this class. In middle school I made a miniature room from clay. It had three walls and a floor with like a mini TV and chair and stuff. So yeah I have had experience with clay before. Although I had prior experience when working with clay I did develop new skills with it. I really didn't know that you needed to hollow things out when they are too big. That helped in my piece considering that I had a huge log in the middle also it helped to stuff news paper in there to keep its shape. Besides the main log in the clay the rest of the sculpture was pretty easy to form and I think it turned out well in the end.
We Collaborate
During my clay tile project I was a little skeptical. I kept thinking that it wasn't that good and I should work on it more. I asked the people sitting around me what they thought and they said it was good, but it still didn't seem right to me. The more I worked on it the worse it got so I decided to take their advice and just leave it as it was. When I added the paint to the tile the same thing was happening but I was a little more cautious once I started to paint and it came out better than I thought.
