Environment Self-Portrait
When I first got my environment, I knew what background I wanted to do from the beginning. Behind me are mountains and cracked ice with a pond in the center. The hardest part of the project was getting the snow and ice to look white without actually being white because it wouldn't show up on the paper. Once I found out I could make the portrait abstract I then came up with the idea of making my face into ice with edges and curves around my face. This was done to further show that my environment was arctic.
I'm not the best when it comes to self portraits so being able to make my painting abstract was very beneficial to me. The different colors in my face were supposed to look like reflected light and angled ice. I tried to make my hair look like it was frozen at the tips but it didn't turn out too well. I also tried to make my clothing as close to animal fur as I could get it but I didn't know exactly how to give it that texture. Overall I don't think I did bad on this project considering self portraits aren't the easiest thing for me.
